Garage door repair in Ripley
Most Ripley calls start the same way: the door will not go up, it goes up crooked, or it made a loud bang in the night and now it will not budge. That bang is usually a torsion spring letting go. When a spring breaks, the door loses its counterweight and becomes extremely heavy, even though the opener may still hum and try to lift it.
If that describes your door, stop using it and keep children, pets and vehicles clear. Do not pull the release rope and force the door up by hand, and do not loosen any spring hardware. Springs and lift cables hold a great deal of tension. Call and describe what you heard and whether the door is stuck open or closed.
We also handle the slower problems: rollers that squeal, hinges that have worn oval, bottom seals that have gone hard and let water across the slab, and sections dented by a bumper or a mower. See garage door repair for the full list of what we service.
New garage doors for Ripley homes
Ripley has a wide mix of housing stock, and the right door depends on which part of that mix you are in. Older homes near downtown often have narrow single openings and a detached garage or shop, where a carriage-style or traditional raised-panel door suits the house. Newer construction on the edges of town is usually a standard double opening, where the decision is more about insulation, window inserts and colour.
We measure the opening, check the headroom and side room, and talk through what will actually fit before quoting anything. If your existing opening is an odd size, say so when you call, because custom sizing changes both the lead time and the price. Details are on the installation page.
Openers, remotes and keypads
A Ripley door that ignores the remote is not always an opener problem. Misaligned safety sensors near the floor, a door that has fallen out of balance, or a worn trolley can all produce the same symptom. We check the whole system rather than swapping the motor first.
If your opener is an older chain unit with no rolling-code remote and no photo-eye sensors, replacement is worth discussing on safety grounds alone. We can explain the current options on the opener page.
Shops, warehouses and First Monday traffic
Ripley is a working town as well as a residential one. Between the businesses along the highway and the traffic that First Monday Trade Days brings into the area, there are a lot of shop buildings, storage bays and roll-up doors in and around town that see hard use.
We service and install commercial overhead doors as well as residential ones. If you have a roll-up that is binding, a dock door that will not seal, or a new bay that needs a door fitted, describe the opening size and the clearance above it when you call. More on the commercial doors page.
Arranging a visit in Ripley
Call (662) 223-0748 or email [email protected]. The details that help most are your town and road, whether the door is stuck open or closed, the approximate opening size if you are asking about a new door, and whether the property is residential or commercial. Photos taken without operating the door are often useful.
Our shop is at 5700 CR 301, Tiplersville, MS 38674, open Monday to Friday 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday 7:30 AM to noon. Call for current scheduling and parts availability; an exact price depends on the diagnosis.
Ripley garage door questions
Do you actually come to Ripley, or do I bring the door to you?
Both work. You can visit the shop at 5700 CR 301 in Tiplersville to look at options and place an order, and we travel to homes and businesses in Ripley for measuring, installation and repairs.
My garage door spring broke. Can I use the door until you get here?
Please do not. With a broken spring the door is unbalanced and much heavier than it feels when working, and forcing it can damage the opener or cause the door to drop. Leave it where it is, keep people away from it, and mention on the phone whether it is stuck open or closed.
How quickly can someone get to Ripley?
Call for current availability. Ripley is close to our base, but scheduling still depends on the work involved and whether the parts are on hand. Say up front if a door is stuck open and the building cannot be secured.
